Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21 of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, USA is an American actor. She is famous for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively in ABC's Lost TV show. Her parents had divorced and they moved together with their mother into Los Angeles. They were struggling to get by and was offered her first part in the acting world as Rachel's Room's main character. After earning a Young Artist Award in 2002 for her portrayal as Murder on the streets of Greenwich of a 15-year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace was able to win. Grace Rutherford, a role she played in Lost from 2004 until 2005 was nominated for an Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace decided to concentrate on film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She starred on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice on Malice in Wonderland which is an updated version of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to the Lost series in the final two episodes as Shannon. She was in 2013 for the sixth season of Californication. The character she plays is Faith as an admirer and muse to the celebrities. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. A member of the Gyllenhaal clan, she is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was a young teenager with small roles in several films from her father. In addition, she was a part of her brother in the 2001 popular movie Donnie Darko. Then she appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received praise from critics for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002, erotic romantic drama) as well as Sherrybaby (606) and Sherrybaby (606) of which garnered her Golden Globe Award nods. Following several commercially-successful films, including World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The year 2009 was the time she was nominated as the Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mom as she appeared in Crazy Heart. The following year, she starred in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Won't Back Down (2012). The other roles she's played include Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) and actors in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and The Kindergarten Teacher. In 2021 Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directed debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
